I think our brain is more important to our identity than our body. In class a few weeks ago, we talked about I think, Mother Paula and Hugo Cabret switching brains. If Mother Paula has a girls brain and Hugo Cabret has a boys brain, then who is who? Our body is what you see and that's how you determine who is who. But people also determine who you are by the way you act and do things. If Lebron James had my brain, then people would know that he would be different, because I have no physical ability at all and "Lebron James" would suck at basketball. If we had someone else's brain in our head, we would act, think and feel the way the other person does. Our body shows who we are, but our brain is the thing that makes us. The brain controls our emotion, personality and the way we are. People would realize that you aren't the person that you look like by the way you act and seem. In my opinion, the brain makes up more of your identity then your body.

I agree especially when you gave examples about Hugo Cabret and Lebron James.

I think it depends on who and what you are. Like if your are a sports player and you switched brains with a teacher, the teacher with the sports player's brain know how to play but can not physically play perfect. The sports player with the teacher's brain does not know how to play but can physically. So if you are a sports player your body is your identity and if you do not play sports your brain is your identity.

But it's not only your body that enables you to do sports well, the skills come from your brain too. If you were a 50 year old teacher with the brain of a basketball player, your body wouldn't enable you to play the sport well. If you were the basketball player with a 50 year old teachers brain, you wouldn't have the proper coordination or skills.

I agree with you! Without brains we wouldn't be able to exercise at all!

I'm a sports player like many people and my body isn't completely my entire identity. Yes, I need to train and get stronger and work hard and my body goes through all that, but my brain is what's telling me strategy, memorizing drills, telling me who's available for a pass.

I definitely think our brains are more important to our identity than our bodies. Our brains control the things we think, act and feel. The one percent of our identity belonging to our bodies is only so people can recognize us. If you take the example of an athlete, most sports are mostly intellectual when you think about it. If you know the game and the technique, how much of your skill is left to your physicality? I say it is a very small amount. You obviously cannot live without your brain because it is your central intelligence and emotion center. It controls everything about you and makes you who you are. It’s like the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Someone’s physical appearance is way less important than their mentality. As long as we have our brains, we only need our bodies so people can recognize who we are and place a face to our brains. Our thoughts, feelings and actions are what makes us us and our bodies are just a cover or an external unit. Put it this way: your brain can affect your body, but your body cannot affect your brain. For instance, Stephen Hawking is a brilliant scientist with many achievements who is unable to speak or move without electronic aid due to Lou Gehrig’s disease. His brain is his identity. Mind you, I do believe bodies play a role in identity, but this role is like a supporting role to the brain. Without our bodies, we would be unrecognizable, but without our brains, we wouldn’t be who we are.

I think that its our brain that makes our identity cause anyone can looking like anyone but if know and want to call your self what ever your name is then if you switch brains that new body will be your own. Your brain i the thing that makes you you not your body you can take on some changes get a new name or change your whole entire personality but you will always be you. Also if your brain is the same you will also think and like all the same things. Just as IT is only a floating engineered modified floating brain sending out brain waves brain washing everyone. So my opinion has to go to the brain being more important!

I think that this question can go 50/50. The brain holds our personality, its what makes us who we are. Our body also represents who we are, it shows people what we look like so they can recognize us. Therefore i belive that both are important in showing us who we are.

I think that our brain is more important to study. Our brain has our feelings and knowlege. If two people switch bodies I believe that after a while people will know who you are because they know you. They know your personality. Our brain makes us all different and thats how we all know eachother, by our personality. People can identify you by your face and body, but people can also identify you by your personality as well. You also can't judge people how they look too.

I actually don't know but I guess you could say I'm a fence sitter. I think the brain is important because the way you act, speak and well smart or dumb people would if it's you or not like if your London Tipton from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and your brain got switched or you had a really good look alike you could tell which one's London because she's really dumb and if you've known London for a while you'd be able to tell who's London. On the other hand I also think the body is important because say you have a certain birthmark to tell who you are so if you got ost but then found 5 years later they could check for your birthmark then they would be able to tell if its you, also there's height, size and facial features if you run in a family of tall people you may have a chance of being identified, if you come from a family of " sticks " same thing and if people say you have your mothers eyes or your fathers nose you could be identified, also helps if you have a twin.

I think our brain is more important to our identity in my opinion. Our brain is 80% and our body is 20% of our identity. Our brain controls how we think, act, and feel. It is our emotion. For example, if my brain was in someone else's body, you could see it was them but, actually think it was me. Our body only makes up 20% of our identity, because our body is what people see on the outside and what we can do physically.

I think our brain is much more important than our body for identity. I say that because the body is just the physical appearance, it has nothing else, but the brain is like the whole controller of our body. so without our brain we wouldn't be ourselves because we would act differently. People identify each other by how they act and the things they say, not just by the physical appearance. Our brain controls the things we say and how we act so that would identify us. IF we changed how we acted and talked and did things drastically, but we still had our appearance, people would realize it isn't us because our brain is a bigger part of our identity than out appearance. i think our appearance is 30% of our identity and our brain 70%. Therefore, I say our brain is more important to our identity than appearance.

I am agreeing with Pandora on this. I can't decide which one identifies us the most. Most of you are saying that the brain is more important, which I totally get, because it functions our bodies. But some would disagree on that and say that bodies are more important. For instance, models would say that, because their whole life is about their body and that is what defines THEM. Also they are not that smart either, so that just adds on to the bodies being important. If I had to choose one, I would go with the brain, just because it is what functions and controls our bodies. We would also be different people without it (the way we act and communicate).

They all identify us and define us in different ways. I think that our brain identifies us more because thatcontrols who we are, what we like and how we think. Our body identifies more of our image and how we dress, which is also important. But without our brain which controls what and how we do things we wouldn't be known for being creative and unique. Our body is our body image which is how we look. I think they are both very important.

I think our brains are more important. Our brains have our personality and the way we act and think. Our brains control what we do. We need our brains for school, board games, strategy thinking on sports teams, reading, writing, math, studying (much more). Without our brains we would almost be like the people on camaztoz. We wouldn't have the freedom to act and think our own way. Our bodies have what we look like, but that doesn't mean much without a brain that holds your emotion, actions, and knowledge.
Our bodies are also very important. They are what's being controlled by the brain and hold the brain. They also make us who we are by our height, shoe size, what we wear, eye colour, hair colour. Without our bodies we would be like IT. IT can't play sports or go to school, because it has no body to take him there.

I think that are brains are wayyyy more important but in general I think that our body's represent us more. Anybody who sees you anywehere can assume what type of person you are by just looking at you. Unless they interact with you and actually witness your talents they will not know who you realy are. Body without brain and brain without body are both USELESS. If you have a brain but no body, then you can't "do" anything physical. But if you have a body without a brain then you would just be a big blob sitting there with nothing to control you.

I would definitely say that the brain would be more important than the body. Our body is bones and skin, yet our brain controls all of us. Our brain contains our memory, our mind, and our personality. The can never be replaced, as everything that has ever happened to us in our life has been stored inside our brains. We would be useless without our brains to function us. Body is just our outside shell, it doesn't matter whether someone is pretty outside, what matters is what's on the inside, what your personality is, and how you think.

I think our brain is more importent to our identity because its the only way we are able to think and move...without our brain we wouldnt be able to control our own bodies! But on the other hand if we had no body to control and cominicate our thoughts through, then whats the brain for? It cant talk or move by itself. But if we had no brain we wouldnt be able to talk or move anyways because our brain controls all our movements and the decisions we make. So i guess both the brain and the body are both very important to our identity.

I think our brain is more important because this is what changes the body. Our brain tells us how to act and feel and this is more important than what is on the outside. It's like the saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover" . It seems like our body makes up our identity but it's more of our personality.
