The man with the red eyes convinced Charles Wallace that if he went under his control, he would take him to Charles Wallace's father. Meg tries to attack the man with the red eyes and tackles Charles Wallace down. When Meg tackled Charles Wallace down, he "flicked out" of the hypnotism, but he got hypnotized again. I believe a person can be hypnotized with the right techniques. And I don't think a person can be hypnotized with the "you're getting sleepy, when I snap my fingers, you will fall asleep, when I clap my hands 3 times, you will wake up." I think you could be hypnotized, for example, at a psychiatrist. When they put you to sleep and you answer they're questions to "help you with your problems." That's the only way I think people can be hypnotized.
The man with the red eyes hypnotized Charles by tricking him into thinking that he was the path to Charles' and Meg's father, so it made feel that Charles Wallace had to look into his eyes to find out where their father was. The first time it didn't work, because Meg interfered by tackling Charles thus cancelling the "hypnotism". The second time Meg was told this was for the better and she didn't interfere. I do not believe a person can be hypnotized because in my opinion it is just trickery. You aren't actually hypnotizing them, you just make them THINK their hypnotized, and they become "under your spell".

The man with the red eyes hypnotized Charles Wallace by convincing Charles Wallace to look deeep into his eyes. The man had some sort of power that allowed Charles' pupils to shrink and to then be under his spell. The first time, Meg tackled Charles Wallace and he bumped his head, causing him to snap out of the hypnosis. Charles was then hypnotized again and has stayed this way. No, I do not believe someone can be hypnotized. Stage hypnosis is definitely not real, especially when the person being hypnotized is asked to play along or fake it. There are places that use hypnosis as a therapy, but I personally don't belive that it actually works. Real hypnosis is different than stage hypnosis in the way that is it conducted and the reason for doing it, but either way, I don't think it works.

The man hypnotized Charles Wallace by convincing Charles to look into his eyes. When Charles did that, his pupils shrank to a very small size. When this happened, Meg realized Charles was under the spell of the guy with he red eyes. To break Charles out of the spell of the man, Meg tackled Charles and by doing that he fell and bumped his head which caused him to break the spell and come out of the hypnosis. I believe a person can be hypnotized. I believe that because i have witnessed a person being hypnotized. I saw it all happen and i knew the person wasn't just acting. So i believe a person can be hypnotized having witnessed it.

The man with the red eyes tries to hypnotize Charles Wallace by telling him to look into his eyes so that he could figure out who he was. Charles Wallace does start to look into his eyes but as he did that, his pupils started shrinking and he started walking towards the man. As Charles did that, Meg runs after him, and tackles him to the ground. After that, Charles eyes go back to normal and was out of the mans control. I think a person could be hypnotized if a person who actually can do it properly with the proper techniques and not just a watch moving forward and backward in front of their eyes.

This very mysterious person was not talking at all but someone some where was doing the talking in hidden so this man obviously is something whole different from human so he has some kinda power to manipulate the brain and cause by no it kinda sounds like Charles is not human cause one of the Mrs. W said Charles you can understand the funny language and the way they talk about him so maybe there is something about Charles the he only could get hypnotized. Meg tried to talk some sense into to Charles but for some reason is was not working and Charles would zone out and his eyes are all white and pupils are gone so the only way that Meg could think of was to tackle Charles to the ground hitting his head knocking him out getting him out of the trance. I do think that hypnosis is real i saw it on t.v and I know for a fact that it is a real solution for curing crazy people and other symptoms so yes i do believe its real.

The man with the red eyes hypnotizes Charles Wallace by telling him that if he cooperates and is patient he will be taken to his father. Meg tries to fight the hypnotism by talking Charles Wallace down to the ground. While Meg has Charles Wallace down he blinks out of the hypnotism for a couple of seconds but got hypnotized again. I do not believe that people can get hypnotized because I have never seen it happen ever and I do not believe in hypnotism.

I do not believe in hypnosis because I have tried to do it to people but it does not work. In magic shows the person being hypnotized is asked to play fake it. You just make a person think their hypnotized, and they become just play along with it.

Charles knew that the red eye man was real, but the words he said weren't his own and were coming through him from someone else. The red eye man told Charles that if he looked into his eyes he could find out who the man really was. Charles looked into the mans eyes and went white. His eyes lost their pupils and he began walking towards the man, but Meg tackled him, caused him to loose focus and come back to reality. I don't really believe a person can be hypnotized. I have seen the shows where the magician hypnotizes an audience member and makes them do unusual things, but I still don't believe in hypnotism. I think for the magician example, the audience member that gets chosen is an actor and works for the magician. None of its real. It doesn't seem possible for a persons mind to loose focus and fall under a trance.

The Red man put Charles Wallace into a hypnotic state by having direct contact with his and charles wallace's eyes since Charles shut out the red man's connections to his brain. In order to stop the hypnotism, Meg thought it would be a good idea to get physical and tackle Charles which worked but soon returned to the red man's gaze and became hypnotized then try to assault the red man by punching him but to no avail was blocked by four men in black. I personally don't believe in hypnotism because it sort of sounds too unreal to me even though there are some magicians and therapists (I think, not sure about therapist maybe cyciotrist or something) that preform said hypnotism I don't know whether they are telling the truth or if they are putting on a show.

I think that the red man has Charles Wallace under control, because he somehow got access to his brain. The man with red eyes must have looked through his eyes and took control of his brain. since humans "only use 10% of their brain", the man must have used a way to take control of the atoms of Charles brain. By doing this, The man must took control of Charles Wallace's mind and actions. (maybe that's why in Camazotz everyone is the same.)

I like how yu able to give the reason to why the people of camazotz and Charles were possess by IT/red man in a biological point, but that gives the question is the only reason that the red man/ IT are able to be so powerful is that they are able to use the full 100% of their minds?

The red eyed man somehow got control of Charles' brain and hypnotized him. The first time, Meg tackles Charles and he snaps out of it. I imagined it to be like how Raven Baxter snaps out of her vision. I believe that someone can be hypnotized but it
just hasn't happened yet. Maybe in the future, people will be able to take control over someone's brain by concentrating hard and some kind of new technology.

the man with the red eyes hypnotizes Charles by first drawing him in by using his father and then the man takes control oh his brain. He took control of his brain by (guessing) getting into his thoughts and slowly Charles thought he was the man with the red eyes. First Meg tackled Charles who bumped his head and he be came his self. The second time she tried to tackle him he punched her because he wasn't himself and he was completely hypnotized. I think someone can be hypnotized because as technology gets stronger and learns morre about the human brain.

First the man with red eyes was trying to hypnotize Charles Wallace by using the multiplication table and trying to control Charles' brain. That didn't work, because Charles blocked it out with nursery rhymes. Then the man made Charles look into his eyes and Charles actually almost became fully hypnotized, but Meg tackled Charles and he snapped out of it. Unfortunately, it happened again and Charles then got controlled by the man with the red eyes. I believe a person can be hypnotized, but only with the right tools and it has to be done by a "special doctor" as some previous people have mentioned before. I believe in this, because I think this is how people can overcome their fears. (Only think that, because watched an episode of 'Shake It Up' where Rocky overcame her fear of flying on an airplane using hypnotism.)

In the beginning, the Man with the Red Eyes had tried to hypnotize Charles Wallace by using the multiplication table and get him to cooperate with the rhythm in which he was talking, in order to control his brain. But Charles Wallace had used nursery rhymes to block out the rhythm the man in the red eyes using. Then, Charles Wallace had looked into the red eyes which made him on the edge of being fully hypnotized, but thanks to Meg and her tackle with Charles, he had snapped out of IT's control. In the last try, the man with the red eyes had convinced Charles Wallace that if he had looked into his eyes, he could be able to find his father. So, hearing this, Charles Wallace looked into the red eyes of the man, and was completely hypnotized within seconds.
Yes, I do believe that someone can certainly be hypnotized, but it depends on the way you look at it. People go in and out of trances all the time, like when you read and book and you start to get caught up into the plot, you're in an altered state. Watching TV, daydreaming, long distance driving, are also all examples of situations where people drift off into trance. In fact, many people believe that a person is in some level of altered state, all the time. But I believe that people can only be hypnotized if they want to be, and if they fully let themselves be in control of the hypnotist.

I don't agree with the eamples you used to describe hypnotism. When your reading a book you can get caught up in it but you can't get hypnotized by it. When your watching TV or daydreaming, you can get caught up in it but not hypnotized. ButI do agree on your last statement that people can be hypnotized only if they fully let themselves.

He hypnotizes him by using a multiplication table to try to control Charles brain. Also he had Charles to correspond the multiplication table with common rhymes. But Charles got fully hypnotized when he looked right into the red eyes and was now being controlled be IT.
Meg tries to stop it by tackling the red eye but Charles Wallace convinced her that he had to do this.
No, i do not believe anybody can got hypnotized because how can someones mine just get erased then be told that they're someone or something else and think they are. To me i think its very unlikely for people to be hypnotized.

Charles Wallace gets hypnotized in a very slow process. First IT lures Charles in by reciting multiplication tables. Then Charles tries block the rhythm out by saying multiplication tables. Charles Wallace is just on the edge of getting hypnotized and Meg and Calvin jump in to break the rhytm. Then IT lures charles in again by saying he will meet his father if he look in IT's eyes. So charles does so, and soon enough he is hypnotized.
No, I do not believe that hypnotism is real. First of all, hypnotism has not been fully proved by scientists. It is a 50% theory. Second of all, I do believe that you can get lost in thoughts but completely. You still have control of yourself and you still are you. I think that hypnotism is just a theory and a common thing used in movies and TV shows.
Has anyone actually ever seen hypnotism in process?
So I am the only one that is late on this convo but Charles chose to go with the man with the red eyes but the mage gets a new Charles that is not Charles Wallace she knows it a fake the he saids a father is” merely another misconception
