A Wrinkle In Time: 6/10
I think A Wrinkle In Time is a decent book. What I have liked about A Wrinkle In Time is that at the end of each chapter, there was a cliffhanger that made you not want to put down the book. There is a lot of conflict between the protagonist(s) and the antagonist(s), which makes it very interesting and exciting for the reader, because you want to know what's going to happen next. What I have disliked about the book is that it was very slow until about Chapter 3 or 4. It started to get interesting when they started to tesser with the tesseract. Also, when we got to the part where Meg, Calvin and Charles Wallace entered Camazotz I found that it got boring. Until they came to Central CENTRAL, it was very odd and boring for me.
Charlotte Doyle: 9.5/10
I think Charlotte Doyle is an amazing book. What I liked about it was that it was exciting and interesting throughout the whole book. From the very first page to the end of Chapter 11, (that's all I read up to) it was full of action and suspense. Also, the characters are explained in detail, so you can imagine what they look like in your head. The characters are described in a lot of detail, so the pictures that you create in your head can be vivid and very realistic. I didn't really not like anything. Charlotte Doyle is an amazing book and I think that it doesn't have any thing that's not good.

I generally agree with you. I like Charlotte Doyle better than a Wrinkle In Time. In my opinion, the reason that so few people have read the book is because it doesn't have a very captivating title. If it was called Mutiny and Murder on the Seahawk, I bet more people would pick it up off a shelf and give it a try. I think you are going to find part two just as engaging as part one.
I disagree a bit on A Wrinkle in Time. I think it is a book that gets better the more times you read it. The first time I read it I focused on the story which admittedly is pretty slow at times. However, now I find myself noticing more and more ideas and getting caught up in them. There is a certain intelligence behind every bit of imagination that I find intriguing.

Hagrid, I think as a teacher you chose Wrinkle In Time for the educational puposes of it. I think that was a great choice! Even thought the book may seem boring to some people, the book had sooooooo... many science realted concepts to it. It really made me think of science a little differently and what our world has not yet discovered. This book gave me so many ideas as to what science projects i will be doing in the future :)

Just wondering, if you don't think anything is bad about Charlotte Doyle, Sherlock Holmes, why didn't you give it 10/10 instead of 9.5/10? What is that half a point docked for?

A Wrinkle In Time: 4/10
I do not like A Wrinkle In Time at all. (sorry Hagrid) I do not find the story interesting to my liking. I am also not a fan of science books. I find that the whole central, CENTRAL thing is boring and IT does not make it any better or interesting to me.
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle: 7/10
I do find that The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is better and more interesting than A Wrinkle In Time. Most of my friends have read The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and said that it was really good, so that also encouraged me to read it.

A Wrinkle In Time: 7/10
This book is a classic, one written fifty - one years ago, which means the writing style will be a little different than what this generation is used to. Yes, I agree, it can be boring in places and sort of drag on. Yes, it is kind of confusing and unreal. Yes, it's not the most interesting, action - packed, thrilling story ever, but I think it has got the coolest, most mind - bending concepts. First of all, the concept of a tesseract is confusing and seems totally impossible, but when you actually stop and consider the possibility, you start to understand. The fact that the book suggests life on another planet is also interesting. Scientists aren't quite there yet in terms of discovering actual alien life, but the whole idea of "what if" is what makes this story so special. The whole concept of IT causes some deep thinking and consideration. IT's a brain. IT has no heart. IT is very smart, but has no emotion whatsoever. How does this happen? That is where the imagination comes in. It allows you to take the given concepts and add your own ideas and that is what I think makes this book so interesting.
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle: 8.5/10
This book is one of those that you cannot put down. As soon as you think it's finally starting to settle down, something big happens and changes the plot. The characters are layered and have so many different sides. The book is composed of mystery combined with a little action, a combination that works so well together and it creates a page - turner. The idea of being on a ship and having to choose over the murderous captain or the rebellion crew is interesting and makes you put yourself in that characters shoes, something that most books don't have the power or strength to do. One of the reasons that I didn't give it a higher score is because it uses so much ship language and can sometimes be hard to understand and visualize. There's that sail and this sail and that mast and this mast and that room and this room and it can become quite confusing, although I do realize it is part of the tale Charlotte is telling. Also, I would've liked to know a little bit more about the crew. We got great descriptions of Charlotte and Captain Jaggery, but the descriptions of the crew didn't go into much detail. They are one of the main characters so I believe they should be properly introduced and described.
In the end, I like The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle better than A Wrinkle In Time so far, but I think both books have had their ups and downs.

A Wrinkle in time: 8/10
Although this book can be a bit confusing, it is very intiguing
And interesting. A wrinkle in time keeps you intrigued throughout the entire book. The entire concept of tessering is quite confusing, but it is also very interesting. Although it is a classic and old book, it still keeps its charm

The true confessions of Charlotte Doyle: 6/10
In my opinion this book is quite boring. Although the characters are quite phenominal and have quite a few layers, it doesnt change how interesting the book really is. To many this book may be interesting, but i think that it seems quite boring. Even the title and the cover arent very captivating. The plot of this book just isnt interesting

I like how you have gone against what everyone else has already posted, Taylorgomez143. You weren't afraid to share your own opinion, even if it was the complete opposite of what the rest of the group was saying. I don't agree with you, but you definitely put up a good argument and I respect your opinion.

I completely disagree with you, The title was sooooo unique. I mean who name a book Wrinkle in Time. It made me so curious. I think that some parts of the book were boring but for the most part it was interesting and captivating. The other was so creative and imaginitive. Especially for the time that she wrote she book in. It was back in the olden days and it is so suprising to see that people reading it today stil enjoyit. That shows that the author was thinking ahead, perhaps the future of things.

I would have to agree with the majority on this one and say that True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle is a better book than A Wrinkle in Time.
WiT: 4/10
I did not enjoy this book. In fact I rather despised it until towards the ending. It would have been a 2 if the ending wasn't exciting. I give the book a 4 because it was so boring! There was no action until they reached Camazotz, and it was EXTREMELY hard to get into.
TCoCD: 8/10
This book was very grasping. It hooked you from the second they were loading her chests onto the boat. It was very easy to get through, was packed with action, and threw a twist into the story every time everything seemed normal.

I have two things to say.
It started to get interesting in A Wrinkle In Time at about Chapter 4 or 5. Did you think that the first 3 chapters were really that boring? And, in my opinion, it was a bit confusing, but it wasn't really that hard to grasp. I don't know what you found extremely confusing.
2. You said that Charlotte Doyle is an 8/10. You only included good things about the book and no bad things. What wasn't good about it that made you give it an 8/10?

I like Wrinkle in Time far more then The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. I think I saw more interesting features to the book with far more concepts to explore. Although I'm slightly disapproving to the fact that the traveling triad do not use the power of the Ms. Ws to travel farther throughout the universe as it is implied by the evidence lingering in the book. The writer, has a slight flaw in setting your expectations far too high and only achieving so high in the satisfactory rate. While this doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the book, the feeling of the fact you got cheated out of something you could of obtained.
So I give it a reluctant 9/10, for the lack of satisfaction.
Charlotte Doyle manages to be interesting but lacks the hooking action that grapaled you on board. While the scenarios are fairly interesting and can be warped enough to create a paralell story and world, the concepts aren't exactly interesting. I'd give it a 7/10.

Wrinkle In Time 6/10
Charlotte Doyle 9/10
I enjoyed reading Charlotte Doyle a lot more than Wrinkle In Time. In my opinion I found Wrinkle In Time a little dull comparing to Charlotte Doyle. I found Charlotte Doyle a lot more interesting because of its concept. It takes place on a ship and usually stories have that type of theme, so it was a lot more fun and engaging to read. Though Wrinkle In Time was a very good book, I will always prefer Charlotte Doyle. They're both very special books in their own way, and I feel very lucky that I had chance to read them.

Wrinkle in Time: 4/10
It's a great book with a lot of possible discussions, but I feel like when you read it, there's no hook. I'll read 3 chapters and feel like it has been an hour when it's been 20 minutes. I really enjoyed the genre and the topics in this book.
Charlotte Doyle: 8/10
I really enjoy this book but their is room for much improvement. Firstly, I really enjoy the characters and the interconnected conflicts, but the pace is sooooo slow. I could write a book that is that slow as well. It's called a journal. Secondly and on a good note, it pays attention to the small details and uses them in the right way. The Upstairs Room did the exact same thing, but I hated the book, so yeahh. Lastly, this book is much more enjoyable in comparison to Wrinkle in Time.

I agree with you Charlotte Doyle is a pretty good book and it does begin very slow at the start but will eventually increase to a climax as I'm sure we all read. Also a question I'd like to ask you is what made Charlotte Doyle be better than The Upstairs Room when you said they both pay close attention to detail ?

I think that Johanna Reiss payed more attention to the details that were there to increase the length of the book, while Avi payed attention to the details that were more significant to the book in general. That made my experience better.

Yes, I do believe that The Uptairs Room was more interesting than Charlottte Doyle. Even though both of these books revolved around a young girl fighting for freedom from either the Nazi's or the captain they both had good story plots to it. The difference is, in my opinion, is that The Upstairs Room really gave a good description of what the scenerio and setting was in each chapter. I could almost feel that I was the main character in the book living the actual scenorio of staying alive and keeping away from the Nazi's.

The True Confessions of Chalotte Doyle- 8.5/10
This book really captures the personality traits of different characters such as Jaggery and Charlotte. It explains good action scenes for example, when Cranick was killed. I also like the fact that this book challenged me a liitle because I didn't know what some of the words meant. This one of the first books that I enjoyed and was liitle challenging for me. The other book was the Upstairs Room. I also deducted 2.5 points from ten because this book was all about Charlotte (the title giving the answer). I would have enjoyed this book more if there was more backround info and more writing about the crew. That way, when it came to parts like the roud robin it wasn't just straight forward "he did this", or "he did that", The crew members would actually have personall traits and stories.
Wrinkle in Time -7/10: When I first heard the title of the book so many different ideas came to my mind. But the ideas in the book were completely differet from mine. At first, I thought that the book was about old people who had wrinkles and then slowly in time they went away and turned young again. I know my idea was crazy! But the title really made me curios and want to the read the book. The reason I didn't give this book a 10/10 because for me was incorporated too much fantasy. The science concepts and the tesseracts were my favourite ideas, but there were some parts in the book that just didn't mke sense to me.
But overall, both books were great and I enjoyed reading them. But, I like The True Confessions od Charlotte Doyle because of its, style of writing, the action parts and the logic and reseoning behind the story.

Charlotte Doyle- 9 out of 10
I gave Charlotte Doyle a 9 because I think this book is interesting and has a part of reality in it. What I did not enjoy is how there are many flat characters.
Wrinkle In Time- 7 out of 10
I gave Wrinkle In time a 7 because it was very slow at the start. I did not understand a lot but that is also something to appreciate in a book. It sparks our imagination.

For a wrinkle in time, I would say that it is about a 7/10. I understand that it was a bit boring at first, but once you kept on reading and got into the tesseract part of it and space travel to different planets and I can't put it down. You have to admit isn't it so interesting and captivating now (at the part which we are reading right now.) I think the science-fiction part of it makes the story so much more interesting and adds a little drama to the storyline.
For Charlotte Doyle, I would rank this book to be a 10/10. It is so captivating. Once I read the first chapter, I was just totally into it, I couldn't put it down. I think what makes this book so interesting, for me, is all the action, drama, and suspense. Since, like I had said on the first blog, my favorite books are mystery and action and this book has all of that.
Overall, my #1 favorite book is... The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, because of these reasons.

The true confessions of Charlotte Doyle is so far my favourite book and I give it a 10 because it is just action filled and at the end of every chapter it gives you something to think about before going to the next chapter. I just really love this book that is why it is a 10.
