I think its Annabeth because even though she doesn't have Tyson's strength she still has brains which can help protect her and Tyson at the same time like for example if Tyson is trying to throw boulders at Polyphemus but his aiming isn't that good Annabeth can help his aim by fixing his position which would increase his chance of hitting Polyphemus in the area he wants to hit.

I agree Annabeth is very intelligent! But Tyson is the son of posiedon. He is the half brother of Percy. If you were Percy, who would you think Percy would choose to be more important? Tyson has saved him in very sticky situations.

I agree Cynthia that Tyson in fact is really important so I guess both are very important.

I agree with you. I like how you mentioned that Tyson has great physical abilities but they are not as strong as Annabeth's wits. Tyson is a bit slow as he didn't want to leave the creatures that took the 3 of them on the boat. (Forgot the creature's name)

I think Tyson because he is Percys half brother, he is a cyclops which makes him literally immune to fire, it also makes him very strong, he also can help in lots of situations like if Percy needed help against like a 12 foot giant and tuson can literally pick it up and just beat the giant up. Or maybe situations which include fire.
But he is NOT VERY SMART!

But Annabeth is smart. I think that smarts win over strength. If you are smart and strong, (like Annabeth) then you will be a very successful person. If you are just strong like Tyson, then you won't come up with strategies to attack, and you could just kill yourself trying.

At first I would say Annabeth because she is very cunning and intelligent. However, after the chapter with the Sirens I would have to say Tyson is more important. Not just in the plot line but just in general. What Annabeth did was really pointless and slowed down their quest which made her kind of pointless to have around. Tyson on the other hand was holding the submarine together by himself while they crossed the borders of the sea. Tyson also saved Percy's butt back in the begining of the book when the monsters attacked Percy.

I can't decide who is more important. I think both of them were equally heroic and important. Annabeth is Percy's long time friend, but so is Tyson. Annabeth is swift on her feet, strong, intelligent and brave. Tyson is strong, brave and unbeatable. Annabeth helped to scare of the Stymphalian birds, fight Polyphemus and fight Charybdis and Scylla. Tyson held Clarisse's submarine together, retrieved the Golden Fleece and helped Percy summon the Hippocampi to save everyone from Monster Island. Annabeth is also loyal to Percy. She didn't give up on him when he was on Monster Island and she helped Percy escape C.C.'s Spa and Resort. Tyson is also loyal. He tried to save the submarine so everyone else could live, got the Golden Fleece and helped Percy fight off the Laistryogonians. Both Annabeth and Tyson are important. If you think about it, both of them are so important, that the book wouldn't be the same without them. If anyone begs to differ, go ahead.

i think Annabeth is more important because she is more smart and brave also because percy knows Annabeth more than tyson does lastly because Annabeth has saved percy many times and who knows how many more time percy will need to be saved.

To be honest I have say they are both important. Tyson did important things in the book like when he saved Percy from the fire balls at school. When he blocked the fire from the boiler room.
Annebeth did alot of important things in the book like she saved the 4 from the cyclops in the cave using the name nobody, shegave permission to Tyson to eneter the camp, she called the grey sisters for a taxi ride, she know more about the sea of monsters and the story of the fleece.
So overall Annebeth was a important character.

The book stars around more of Annabeth then Tyson. (Returning character, which is a good reason.)
She's essentially Percy's main companion in this book. Tyson is very important in this book, more then the other books he was in.

I think think they are both important and mean the world to percy. Annabeth knows more than tyson and was with percy the whole time. Annabeth doesn't need Tyson's strength to get out of situations since she's so clever.[ she wore invisibility cloak and told percy to go on sheeps belly to get into cave] annabeth trusts percy a lot since she had so much trust in him, that she asked him to help her listen to the sirens.
Tyson is percys half brother. Percy was devasted when he thought his brother was dead. Everywhere he went he got hope that his brother may appear. Tysons strength has saved percy multiple times and he sticks up for everyone including annabeth and grover.

I think Tyson is more important in The Sea of Monsters, because he saved Percy's life many times in The Sea of Monsters. He also helped other people as well. I think Annabeth would be more important in the series overall, she helps Percy and other people numerous times in the series. She is also one of the people Percy can turn to if he is having trouble understanding something, because she is really smart. Well, of course she is, her mom is the goddess of wisdom. Anyways, the question asks who is more important in The Sea of Monsters, so the answer, in my opinion, is Tyson.

I think that Annabeth was more important than Tyson. Even though Annabeth does not have Tyson's strength or anti-fire resistance, but just think without Annabeth where would Percy Jackson and Tyson be? Without Annabeths's smartness Percy Jackson and Tyson would not have be able to do all this, after all, Annabeth was the first to figure out that Tyson was a cyclops.

I think they both very important but annabeth is a little bit more important. I think annabeth is more important because first if it wasn't for annabeth, percy wouldn't know where the sea of monsters is. Second annabeth has used her wisdom in saving them in sticky situations. I do think without tyson also this quest wouldn't have succeeded. The important this is they all needed each others skill and talent t save grover and camp.

I think both are very heroic characters in The Sea of Monsters in different ways. But, I think Annabeth is more important because she is always Percy's backup. For example, Annabeth saved Percy from C.C. The Percy Jackson series is centered around Percy, Annabeth and Grover and the challenges they face together. I think Tyson is important but he was absent for a while in Percy's life and Annabeth was there. This is just my opinion but I can see how Tyson can be more important. He taught Percy the importance of loving your siblings no more how odd or different they are. When Percy realized Tyson was gone, he wished he had not ignored him.

From Annabeth, and Tyson, I think Annabeth is more of an imported character than Tyson, because if Ananbeth died or went away, the book might of already ended, because she is one of the main character, along with Clarisse, and Grover. For example, when Tyson was gone for a few chapters, the book never ended, it kept on going, until the end of the book, when Percy and Annbeth finally arrived at The Sea of monsters.

I think Tyson because he's done more brave things and he helped out Percy a lot and that's why I think Tyson is more important.

IN this book i think Tyson was more important. Even though he doesn't have the brains he still saved all of them in many situations. For example he saved Percy's life and all of them on Polyphemus's island and on Lukes boat in the begining.
