Dance has been a very important thing in grade 7 and it should always be. It's a learning tool because you are more confident dancing in front of others, you learn new dance moves, and you get to make new friends by dancing with others. I think dance has been a important and fun thing this year and I hope the grade 6's enjoy it to.

I really enjoyed the Grade 7 dances. I was nice to know the boys really don't have yucky germs! hahaha! Everyone was really respectful towards each other for the slow dances. I had fun doing the One Division dance because we were the only grade 7 class that participated in Dragon Idol and it taught us that we can all dance as a group and look pretty cool! I actually enjoy dancing more now and maybe I might dance with my mom one day (since she is always bugging me to dance with her!) Dance is a fun way to work out, stay healthy and you can do it by yourself or with a big group of friends. Hagrid, you are a great teacher!

Dance has been a big part of grade seven this year. Not only have we learned how to dance, but we have matured throughout our dance unit and our grade seven dances. We are no longer afraid of dancing with the opposite gender because we became more comfortable and didn’t giggle over that fact. We realized that it can actually be fun to dance and you don’t have to be worried about anything; just go with the flow. I think the most important thing that came from doing dance was that everyone became less self – conscious. We were willing to just let go and dance in front of other people, even if you aren’t the best dancer. Everyone was okay with other people seeing them dance because everyone was in the same boat. Whether you are a great dancer or a not – so – great dancer, it didn’t matter at the grade seven dances because no one really cared. As for the unit on dance, we got to learn traditional folk dances and that helped us to become more comfortable with the whole idea of dancing with the opposite gender. Plus, learning actual choreography was a fun learning experience. I am not in division one so I did not learn the I Knew You Were Trouble dance in class, but I bet it was a fun class project. These are all advantages to dancing, and I haven’t even talked about the health benefits yet. You don’t have to participate in sports to get your physical activity; dance gets you up and moving and your heart rate increasing so you are active. I think I speak for all the grade sevens when I say dance was an enjoyable part of the year and next year’s grade sevens will be lucky to have these opportunities.

Dance has been a thing throughout this year. We got to learn cool moves like the jellyfish. I am not longer afraid to dance with the oppisite gender.

I am rating them on a scale of 1-10.
Grade 7 Dances: 10/10 The Grade 7 Dances are great ways to workout and exercise. During the Grade 7 Dances, we can dance to some of our favorite songs and we can dance however we want as long as it's appropriate. The dances are one of my favorite ways to get exercise because you can dance with your friends and dance really crazy. No one will judge you by the way you dance, so you can do any dance moves. As you're dancing, you will make new moves when you are dancing to certain songs. Then we can take those moves and use them in DPA, learning new dance moves.
One Division Dance: 8.5/10 The One Division Dance to "I Knew You Were Trouble" was very fun. We had a LOT of practices and rehearsals to prepare for this dance. To make this dance effective and to make it look good, we had to work together as a team. We learned to work together and follow instructions, which made us better behaved in class. The only thing about the dance, was that it wasn't a dance that you got tired from, and we didn't really get a lot of exercise from it.
Folk Dancing: 7/10 Folk Dancing with Mr. Dumbledore was very... interesting. I have never done folk dancing before, so this year was my first time doing it; and it was fun!! In order to do the dance(s), we had to work together to make it effective. For example, The Virginia Reele required us to spin around with one partner and move to the next in a matter of seconds. It was very confusing at first, but when you worked together as a team, it turned out clean and effective.
DPA: 5.5/10 DPA wasn't one of my favorite ways to get exercise by dancing. We also did DPA with Mr. Dumbledore's class and that was fun to do it with them. The thing I hated the most about it was that whenever people went up, they did the exact same moves as the people before did. (Jumping jacks, Arm Punches, Toe Touches, Walk and Clap, etc...) One of the only people who came up with original and different moves was Hugo Cabret. The only part I looked forward to was having people like Hugo Cabret come up and lead us. (Cookie Monster, Molly, Junie B Jones, Cynthia, Tweety Bird, Strawberry Miki, etc....)
My feelings have totally changed about dance this year. At first, I thought dancing was stupid and I hated it. But after DPA and the Grade 7 Dances, I loved it! I even joined the Dance Club, which I wouldn't have done before. At the beginning of the year right before the first dance, you told us that we had to slow dance with the opposite gender. At first I thought that it was horrible and I didn't want to do it. But in the previous dances, I thought it was horrible when I didn't have a partner to slow dance with. I became more comfortable dancing with the opposite gender, especially during Folk Dancing!
