I think the author is talking about how since the crew was plotting against the captain, they are creating a storm of fury. The crew wanted to have revenge on Captain Jaggery, and since they're plannning to do that, it's creating a storm.

I'm from the underground to canada reading group but hagrid said we could contribute.
In my opinion, a storm is like a sign of anger and darkness. I think that the storm the author is talking about is the anger between the crew and captain jaggery. since the crew of men on the boat hate captain jaggery, they want to have revenge one him. And that only leads them to plan on an idea on how to get back at him.

Wow! I never thought of it that way, that's a good point when you said the storm was the anger between the crew and Jaggery.

I liked your point. The anger between them is the storm and I think the same. Also since it is a 'man made' storm which means they have created this storm of hate themselves.

I think the author was giving a hint of what was to come in the next chapter by saying this line. The storm that he was talking about wasn't in fact an actual storm at all, but was the chaos that occured in chapter 9 and 10, with the crew planning mutiny. He was trying to say there was something coming that involved the characteristics of a storm (ex. violent, dangerous, etc.) The "man-made" part was a way of saying something was going to happen between the thirteen people on the ship. The crew members and Captain Jaggery created this "storm". The anger between the two parties caused violence. For the crew, their part of the creation was planning mutiny and signing the round robin. Captain Jaggery's part was his harshness and ruthlessness towards the crew members.

I liked the way you used predictions and refered to things that you think will happen next in the book.

I love the way how you included the fight that was still to come. It's just pure hatred between the two parties.

It says that the storm is man-made because, I think that a storm is not going to be a real one, but between the people on the ship. Also I think the storm will have to do something with the crew members having a fight against Captain Jaggery which was not expected by either sides. If this is what will happen then I do think that someone will also get harmed.

The storm the author was referring to was probably the uprising of the crew and how they are trying to over through Mr . Jaggery and they were probably going to have a big ruckess about the fight because of all the guns and swords and other stuff like that. Its also a metaphor.

The storm that the author is talking about is all the tension between the crew and Captain Jaggery, for example Captain Jaggery being so mean to the crew, the crew hating Captain Jaggery and Captain Jaggery killing Cranick in front of everybody. The storm was created by the crew wanting to punish Captain Jaggery and then Captain Jaggery threatening to kill the crew.

I really liked how you clearly stated how both parties were involved and you showed the relationship between the actions in your last sentence. You didn't beat around the bush and it was clear what you thought the causes of the man-made storm were.

I think that the man made storm was a symbol that represented a plan the crew made up to get back at Captain Jaggery. It wasn't actually a "storm" but just another word to describe the commotion between the crew and captain jaggery.

I think how it said its a man made storm that today was the day the crew was plotting to kill Captain Jaggery. I also think that the man made storm was the fury and the man running up to Captain Jaggery.

I think the author meant that the crew was plotting against Captain Jaggery so a storm of revenge was being created. To create the storm the men planned revenge on the captain. I am also intrigued and wonder what will happen next.

I also think the storm might be because the captain killed a crew member infront of everybody.

I think that the man made storm is referring to how the captain decided to solve the mutiny. It was a big event that caused a lot of tears and chaos. There were guns, weapons and harsh words. By storm I believe the author means the conflict that aroused. He didn't mean a storm in the sea. It was a hint, something causing suspense. When I first read that line I didn't pay much attention to it but once I finished chapter ten I remembered that line and thought back to the previous hints.

When the author said that a storm was manmade, it meant that the crew was plotting to kill Captain Jaggery and they were going to charge all at once.

I think that the author was foreshadowing. He wanted to leave a hint that made you wonder. In my opinion the storm must be about the fury and hatred between the crew and the Captain. A storm could be refered to as a tropical weather storm, but it can also be refeered to as hatred or a fight between the crew and the captain. In a storm lots of things get out of order and people panic, so the author must have meant that things were getting out of order and people would start to panic.

When the author said the storm was man made, it meant that the crew and captain Jaggery were gonna have a standoff. to create the storm, everyone brought weapons like pistols and swords to slit captain jaggerys throat and to kill him. so by saying the storm was man made, the author was giving us a hint that something big was going to happen.

The author of the book said the storm was man made which meant the captain directed the ship towards a storm

I think the author was talking about the crew and how they wanted to take revenge on the Captain, so I think the "storm" is the crew's rage. So when the author talks about a "man-made storm" I think it is a fight between the Captain's and the crew's anger between each other.

I also think the crew created this storm by making a round robin and trying to get revenge on the captain. I think Captain Jaggery created this storm by working the crew too hard and giving them harsh punishments.

I think by the storm the author is trying to explain the wrath between the captain and crew. The storm is a battle with fury, rage, revenge, and many more things. The storm that the captain and the crew have created is war between them. I await to see who will win this war that contains nothing but hatred towards each other. No love. No care. Just hatred.

The storm is a flurry of intense frustration and hate. The relationship between the captain and the crew isn't one of a great passionate leader and his loyal followers, but rather the relationship of a possessive king with no sympathy lying with in him and a pawn intent on overthrowing the king. This is the result of utter carnage and anarchy. This would create a storm alright. Storms are unpredictable and ravage everything in its path. Storms can start other storms as well.

In my opinion, I think that the "storm" in question is not an actual storm, but a foreshadowing that the author had hinted for us referring to the next chapters of the book and the dramatic fights and situations that were to come. The "man-made" part may have been referring to the crew and captain as they themselves had created this "storm" of violence and hatred for each other.
